Okay, I know the the title of my first post is a High School Musical song, but it's cute and applies to this chapter in my life. I've just finished my second year of college and will soon go on my first international trip, a study abroad to London. (Five years ago, I went to Tijuana for a Youth Conference church group, but since TJ is hardly across the border everyone tells me that it doesn't count.) One of our assignments is to keep a journal, and it took me a while to figure out how I would do it. I finally decided that my handwritten-record days are over. There is something about sitting at a keyboard that is so liberating. Not only can I type faster than I hand-write, but I can just punch out what's on my mind as rapidly as I think it and not have to worry about getting ahead of my hands. I can edit, organize thoughts, and include visuals. I will document my five-week experience in the UK on this blog, and maybe keep writing when I get back. Who knows, I might have something interesting to say now and then!
About my blog title: I was born and raised in Southern California for nearly 18 years. Since I graduated and left for college, I have never lived in the same place for more than eight months. When asked where home is, I get really confused. At this stage of my life, I am no longer rooted in one place, but rather I have "wings" as I fly about from one place to another. I am learning, growing and having all sorts of fun experiences.
Countdown until takeoff: 3 days, 16 hours. I hope I remember to pack everything. Wish me luck!
Good Luck with everything!!! I bet you'll have a blast! It'll be fun to read about your adventures on here :)
